NGC 925 es una galaxia espiral barrada de tipo SAB(s)d que se encuentra en la constelación de Triangulum, 2º al este de γ Trianguli. De magnitud aparente 9,9, su brillo superficial es sólo de 14,2 mag/arcsec², por lo que para apreciarla es necesario utilizar telescopios bastante grandes. Su distancia es bien conocida gracias al hallazgo de variables cefeidas en ella con ayuda del Telescopio Espacial Hubble.

Estudios de su estructura y formación estelar muestran diversas asimetrías en ella (por ejemplo, tener un brazo bien desarrollado en su parte norte y brazos fragmentarios en su parte sur) y la presencia de formación estelar incluso más allá del disco visible, características más propias de galaxias irregulares que de galaxias espirales, pensándose que ha podido tener una interacción con otra galaxia en el pasado.

NGC 925 es miembro del Grupo de NGC 1023. Fue descubierta por William Herschel en 1784.

NGC 925 ist eine Balken-Spiralgalaxie mit ausgedehnten Sternentstehungsgebieten vom Hubble-Typ SBcd[2] im Sternbild Dreieck am Nordsternhimmel. Die Entfernungsangabe von rund 30 Millionen Lichtjahren darf als sehr genau angesehen werden, denn sie beruht auf Messungen des Weltraumteleskops Hubble an 80 Cepheiden-Veränderlichen der Galaxie. Ihr Durchmesser erreicht 100.000 Lichtjahre, die Gesamtmasse schätzen die Astronomen auf 50 Milliarden Sonnenmassen.[3] Die Galaxie ist Teil einer Gruppe zu der auch NGC 891 und NGC 1023 gezählt werden.

NGC 925 Amatha Galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy located about 30[4] million light-years away in the constellation Triangulum. The morphological classification of this galaxy is SB(s)d,[3] indicating that it has a bar structure and loosely wound spiral arms with no ring.[6] The spiral arm to the south is stronger than the northern arm, with the latter appearing flocculent and less coherent. The bar is offset from the center of the galaxy and is the site of star formation all along its length. Both of these morphological traits—a dominant spiral arm and the offset bar—are typically characteristics of a Magellanic spiral galaxy.[7] The galaxy is inclined at an angle of 55° to the line of sight along a position angle of 102°.[3]
