Gary Hug, né le 29 octobre 1950, est un astronome amateur américain. Avec Graham E. Bell, il observe depuis l'observatoire Farpoint à Eskridge (Kansas). D'après le Centre des planètes mineures[1], il a découvert 333 astéroïdes numérotés entre 1998 et 2013. Il a également co-découvert la comète périodique 178P/Hug-Bell.

В период 1998 по 2010 год им было обнаружено в общей сложности 209 астероидов, 48 из которых он обнаружил вместе с другими астрономами[2]. Помимо этого в декабре 1999 года, совместно со своим коллегой Грэмом Беллом, им была открыта короткопериодическая комета 178P/Хуга — Белла[3].
