Direttore del dipartimento di Astrometría Extrameridiana y Mecánica Celeste dal 1955 al 1972 presso l'osservatorio di La Plata[3], il Minor Planet Center gli accredita la scoperta di quindici asteroidi, effettuate tra il 1948 e il 1954.

Oltre a 1569 Evita, Miguel Itzigsohn ha dedicato ad Evita Perón, utilizzandone vari epiteti con cui era nota, anche 1581 Abanderada, 1582 Martir, 1588 Descamisada e 1589 Fanatica.

L'asteroide 1596 Itzigsohn[3] è così chiamato in suo onore.

Miguel Itzigsohn (* 21. November 1908;[1] † 1978) war ein argentinischer Astronom, der in den Jahren von 1955 bis 1972 Abteilungsdirektor des Observatorio Astronómico der Universidad Nacional de La Plata, der Hauptstadt der argentinischen Provinz Buenos Aires tätig war[2].

Miguel Itzigsohn (1908–1978) was an Argentine astronomer and observer of comets, credited by the Minor Planet Center with the discovery of 15 asteroids between 1948 and 1954.[2] The outer main-belt asteroid 1596 Itzigsohn, which he discovered himself, was named in his memory on 1 August 1980 (M.P.C. 5449).[3][4]
