Upsilon Scorpii (υ Scorpii, abbreviated Upsilon Sco, υ Sco), formally named Lesath /ˈliːsæθ/,[9] is a star located in the "stinger" of the southern zodiac constellation of Scorpius, the scorpion. Based on parallax measurements obtained during the Hipparcos mission, it is approximately 580 light-years from the Sun.[1] In the night sky it lies near the 1.6 magnitude star Lambda Scorpii, and the two form an optical pair that is sometimes called the "Cat's Eyes".[10]

Lesath (υ Sco / υ Scorpii / 34 Scorpii) es una estrella situada en la constelación de Scorpius de magnitud aparente +2,70.[1] Su nombre, escrito también como Lesuth, parece provenir del árabe Al Las'ah, «el aguijón», pues junto a Shaula (λ Scorpii) está situada al final de la cola del escorpión, justo en el aguijón.[2] Otra posible etimología alude a una corrección errónea por parte de Scaliger —astrónomo francés que conocía el árabe— del término Alascha, del árabe al laţkha («la mancha borrosa»), referente al cercano cúmulo abierto M7.
