Gliese 682 (GJ 682 / LHS 451 / CD-44 11909)[1] es una estrella en la constelación del Escorpión, situada a poco más de 1º de la brillante estrella Sargas (θ Scorpii). De magnitud aparente +10,96, no es visible a simple vista. Se encuentra a 16,4 años luz de distancia del sistema solar, siendo la estrella más cercana dentro de la constelación del Escorpión.

Como tantas otras estrellas de nuestro entorno, Gliese 682 es una tenue enana roja cuyo tipo espectral es M4.5V.[2][3] Tiene una masa algo mayor de una cuarta parte de la masa solar,[4] con una luminosidad probablemente inferior al 0,1 % de la luminosidad solar. Su temperatura superficial es de 3190 K.[5]

Los sistemas estelares más cercanos a Gliese 682 son Gliese 674, a 1,8 años luz y Gliese 693, a 4,7 años luz.[6]

Gliese 682 (auch GJ 682) ist ein Roter Zwerg im Sternbild Skorpion, der mit rund 16 Lichtjahren Entfernung zu den Nachbarsternen der Sonne gehört. Trotz seiner vergleichsweisen Nähe ist er mit 10,95 mag scheinbarer Helligkeit sehr lichtschwach und zu seiner Beobachtung ist ein relativ leistungsfähiges Teleskop notwendig. Von der Erde aus befindet er sich nahe dem hellen Stern Sargas (Theta Scorpii).[1] Es werden zwei Exoplaneten in Umlaufbahnen um den Stern vermutet, davon einer in der habitablen Zone.[5][6]

Gliese 682 or GJ 682 is a red dwarf. It is listed as the 49th-nearest known star to the Sun, being about 16 light years away from the Earth. Even though it is close by, it is dim with a magnitude of 10.95 and thus requires a telescope to be seen. It is located in the constellation of Scorpius, near the bright star Theta Scorpii.[4] The star is in a crowded region of sky near the Galactic Center, and so appears to be near a number of deep-sky objects from the Solar System's perspective. The star is only 0.5 degrees from the much more distant globular cluster NGC 6388.
