NGC 3271 is a barred lenticular galaxy[1] in the constellation Antlia.[4] At magnitude 11.7, it is the brightest galaxy in the Antlia Cluster, which lies about 40.7 megaparsecs (132.7 million light-years) away.[5] It was discovered on May 1, 1834 by the astronomer John Herschel.[6]

NGC 3271 = IC 2585 ist eine linsenförmige Galaxie vom Hubble-Typ SB0 im Sternbild Luftpumpe am Südsternhimmel. Sie ist schätzungsweise 160 Millionen Lichtjahre von der Milchstraße entfernt, hat einen Durchmesser von etwa 160.000 Lj und ist das hellste Mitglied des Antlia-Galaxienhaufens welcher wiederum dem Hydra-Centaurus-Superhaufen angehört.
