Ramesh Narayan (* 1950 in Mumbai) ist ein indisch-amerikanischer theoretischer Astrophysiker, Professor im Department of Astronomy der Harvard University. Ramesh Narayan erforscht den Akkretionsprozess an Schwarzes Löchern. Er war am Event Horizon Telescope involviert,[1] das im Jahr 2019 das erste Bild eines Ereignishorizonts eines Schwarzen Lochs lieferte.[2][3][4]

Ramesh Narayan promovierte an der Bangalore University im Jahr 1979.[5] Nachfolgend arbeitete er als Wissenschaftler am Raman Research Institute in Bangalore und dem California Institute of Technology. Er nahm im Jahr 1991 eine Professur an der Harvard University an.[6]

2013 wurde Narayan in die National Academy of Sciences gewählt.[7]

Ramesh Narayan (born in Mumbai, India, in 1950) is an Indian-American theoretical astrophysicist, currently the Thomas Dudley Cabot Professor of the Natural Sciences in the Department of Astronomy at Harvard University. Full member of the National Academy of Sciences,[1] Ramesh Narayan is widely known for his contributions on the theory of black hole accretion processes. Recently he is involved in the Event Horizon Telescope project,[2] which led in 2019 to the first image of the event horizon of a black hole.[3][4][5]
