NGC 227 is a lenticular galaxy located approximately 237 million light-years from the Sun[2] in the constellation Cetus. It was discovered on October 1, 1785 by William Herschel.[3]

NGC 227 ist eine linsenförmige Galaxie vom Hubble-Typ S0- im Sternbild Walfisch südlich des Himmelsäquators. Sie ist schätzungsweise 240 Millionen Lichtjahre von der Milchstraße entfernt und hat einen Durchmesser von etwa 105.000 Lj. Im selben Himmelsareal befindet sich u. a. die Galaxie NGC 245.
